5 Ways to Create a Life of Wealth but probably not what you are thinking.

Let’s learn the 5 ways to create a life of wealth. We are going to delve into a topic that you may not have associated with wealth but it has everything to do with it.  And that topic is, Self-care.  I know it might seem like I’ve veered off track and suddenly changed subjects, but I assure you, I haven’t.  Stay with me as I elaborate.  Let’s take a closer look at the true essence of self-care.

To embark on this journey, why not begin with an interesting approach?    Let’s define wealth:  The real definition of wealth, tracing back to its original meaning, hails from the Middle English “wele” or “well-being.”  Before it took on the idea of financial riches, the word wealth ACTUALLY meant the welfare of people; their general happiness and joy.”

With this idea of wealth in mind, you can understand why I am going to say, “HEALTH IS WEALTH.”   Because the more you take care of your health, the more you are going to be able to create the life you want.  And this will in turn creates happiness and joy.  So now you can see why self-care becomes a catalyst for creating a life of wealth.

So let’s get started on the 5 ways to create a life of wealth

5 ways to Create a life of wealth

Number 1:  Keeping yourself clean and smelling nice.

Sounds like something everyone already knows but like our other blog posts have talked about, this needs to be built into your daily routines.  If you haven’t read our blog posts in the START HERE section you can go back and look at some of the foundational routines we built.

Now back to our topic of Self-care.  It is important to make self-care a daily habit by establishing a routine.  It’s not something you do once in a while when your life gets crazy.  It’s what you do every day, every week, and every month, to maintain your health and well-being.  You don’t want to wait until you are burnt out, sickly, or rundown before you decide to get started. Or attempt to fix years of neglect with an expensive one-day indulgence.

Here is a quick list of Self Care ideas or you can make your own list.  Whatever works best for you.
  1. Daily Shower: Take a shower or bath every day, using soap or body wash to clean your body thoroughly.
  2. Use Deodorant or Antiperspirant: Apply deodorant or antiperspirant to your underarms to control sweat and odor.
  3. Brush Your Teeth: Brush your teeth at least twice a day to prevent bad breath and maintain oral hygiene.
  4. Floss Regularly: Flossing helps remove food particles and plaque from between your teeth, promoting good oral health.
  5. Wash Your Hair: Shampoo and condition your hair regularly to keep it clean, healthy, and smelling pleasant.
  6. Trim Nails: Keep your nails clean and well-trimmed to prevent dirt buildup.
  7. Change Clothes: Wear clean clothes daily and change your underwear regularly.
  8. Laundry: Wash your clothes, bedding, and towels regularly to prevent odors and bacteria from accumulating.
  9. Foot Care: Wash your feet thoroughly, keep them dry, and wear clean socks and shoes to prevent foot odor.
  10. Perfume/Cologne: Use a light spritz of perfume or cologne to add a pleasant scent, but avoid overdoing it.
  11. Maintain Hair care: Trim or style your hair as needed, and use hair products sparingly to avoid buildup.
  12. Wash Hands: Wash your hands with soap and water after using the restroom and before meals to prevent the spread of germs.
  13. Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated. (This is the Water Bottle I use: https://amzn.to/3s5QdiD )
  14. Diet: Eat a balanced diet.
  15. Regular Showers: If you engage in physical activities or sweat a lot, consider taking an additional shower during the day.
  16. Fresh Breath Tips: Chew sugar-free gum or use breath mints to keep your breath fresh between brushings.
  17. Stay Active: Regular exercise can help regulate body odor by promoting healthy circulation and sweating.
  18. Avoid Smoking: Smoking can lead to bad breath and unpleasant body odor, so consider quitting if you’re a smoker.
  19. Stay Stress-Free: Manage stress through relaxation techniques or hobbies, as stress can contribute to body odor.
  20. Shoe Rotation: Rotate your shoes to allow them to air out and reduce odor buildup.

Remember, personal hygiene practices can vary based on cultural norms and individual preferences. The key is to find a routine that works for you and helps you feel your best.

It takes a daily commitment to yourself to stay healthy.  Yes, I know this takes time, but in the end, you will be in a much healthier place.  And this will help you give of yourself to those around you, without creating more burnout.  Believe it or not, being healthy and vibrant will make you more attractive to others.  More approachable.  And create a new confidence that helps you create the life you want.

Don’t try to fix years of neglect with an expensive one day indulgence

Now let’s move on to Number two of 5 ways to create a life of wealth.

Create a life of wealth with a clean Environment.

Number 2: Is your Environment clean, neat, and smelling fresh?

Do I really need to worry about this while I am trying to create a life of wealth?  Yes, this DOES MATTER!  If your living space is a mess, everything is in disarray, and it smells like….well….ugh…  Your mood, relationships, and productivity can be adversely affected by this.  Messes and Clutter bombard our minds with excessive stimuli causing our senses to work overtime which equals STRESS!  Messes make it more difficult to relax, both physically and mentally.

As we have said in some of our other blog posts (click here to deeper dive into clutter), clutter constantly signals to our brains that our work is never done.  And this makes us anxious because we feel hopeless about ever fixing any of this.  It also creates feelings of guilt and embarrassment because you are always thinking about how messy and unorganized things are and hoping no one ever drops by for a visit!  But as we have learned in How to Create a Life you Love thinking about something with no action, is just wishful thinking.

We don’t want to live like that any longer that’s why we are here today, to make changes.  We want our environment to be clutter-free so we can relax and enjoy some peace at home.  We want things organized so we can find things when we need them and not waste time looking for stuff.  We want to have our homes clean and fresh feeling so we can take a deep breath and relax from all the stresses outside  Our homes are the places we go to refuel.  Let’s create daily routines that will make this a priority and reduce our daily stress.

Here are a couple of ideas to make your house smell and look fresh.
  • Fresh cut flowers: in a vase on the table
  • Regular Cleaning
  • Open Windows
  • Natural Air Fresheners
  • Baking Soda: Place bowls of baking soda in different areas to absorb odors.
  • Citrus: Put citrus peels in a bowl or grind them in the garbage disposal for a refreshing scent.
  • Herbs: Hang bundles of dried herbs like lavender, rosemary, or mint for a pleasant aroma.
  • Indoor Plants: Certain indoor plants like jasmine, lavender, and eucalyptus can emit lovely scents.
  • Scented Candles and Incense: Use scented candles or incense sticks with pleasant fragrances. Be cautious with open flames and make sure to place them in safe locations.
  • Oil Diffuser: These help to add humidity as well as a great smell. Here is the one I use: https://amzn.to/3OOxv8a
  • Essential Oils: Use essential oil diffusers or make your own room sprays by mixing essential oils with water. Popular options include lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, and peppermint. I use these organic oils – https://amzn.to/3QvYaaX
  • Fabric Refreshers: Spray fabric refreshers on curtains, upholstery, and carpets to eliminate odors trapped in textiles.
  • Simmer Pot or Stovetop Potpourri: Simmer a pot of water with fragrant ingredients like citrus slices, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. This releases a delightful aroma throughout your home.
  • Scented Linens: Place scented sachets or dryer sheets in closets, drawers, and laundry hampers to keep linens smelling fresh.
  • Air Purifiers: Use air purifiers with built-in filters to help remove allergens and odors from the air.
  • Regular Trash Disposal: Empty trash cans regularly and consider using trash bags with odor-neutralizing properties.
  • Clean Pet Areas: If you have pets, regularly clean their bedding and living areas to prevent pet-related odors.
  • Change HVAC Filters: Regularly change your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) filters to improve indoor air quality.
  • Organize and Declutter: Less clutter means fewer places for odors to hide. Keep your living spaces organized and clutter-free.
  • Use Natural Cleaning Products: Choose natural cleaning products with pleasant scents to clean your home. This can leave a lingering fresh aroma.

I hope that some of the ideas mentioned above can assist you in achieving a house that smells wonderful.  Let’s jump right into number 3 of how to create a life of wealth.

Number 3:  Are you dressing like you care about yourself?

You may be thinking that it doesn’t really matter how you dress.  But when people first meet you, you are announcing part of who you are.  If you are wearing a sports jersey, for example, one may assume you like that sport or that team.  When you are dressed clean and neat you are showing that you care about yourself.  That you are willing to spend time on your appearance.  That you think your healthy appearance is important.  This will give you confidence when you interact with others.  It also makes you approachable, which in turn will improve your ability to meet new people in both business and in social environments.

You can accomplish this polished look by slowly building a basic wardrobe.  Start with a pair of great quality black slacks.  These will go with any top.  Then add in a quality shirt.  Keep adding separates until you build a basic wardrobe.

A basic wardrobe involves versatile and essential clothing items that can be mixed and matched for various occasions.

Here’s a list of items you might consider including in your basic wardrobe:

Tops:

  • White Dress shirt
  • Neutral Dress shirt
  • White basic top
  • Black basic top
  • Neutral-colored button-down shirt
  • Basic sweater
  • Tank top (for layering)

Bottoms:

  • Dark wash jeans
  • Chinos or khaki pants
  • Black or navy dress pants
  • Casual shorts

Dresses:

  • Little black dress (LBD)
  • Casual sundress

Outerwear:

  • Classic blazer
  • Trench coat or raincoat

Footwear:

  • White sneakers
  • Classic dress shoes (e.g., loafers, oxfords)
  • Casual boots
  • Sandals
  • Athletic or running shoes

Accessories:

  • Basic belt (matching your shoe color)
  • Wristwatch
  • Sunglasses
  • Neutral-colored scarf
  • Minimalist jewelry (e.g., stud earrings, simple necklace)

Remember, the key to a basic wardrobe is to focus on neutral colors and timeless styles that can be easily mixed and matched. You can add your personal touch by incorporating a few trendy or statement pieces as well. As your needs and preferences change, you can gradually expand your wardrobe with additional items that complement your style and lifestyle.

After you go through your entire wardrobe go ahead and donate the rest of the clothing that no longer serves the new you.  This will keep your closet in a very organized state. Which will make it much easier to get dressed each day.  Now make sure you look your best all the time!  It sounds like a lot of work, but you don’t want to have a serendipitous moment by running into Mr. or Ms. Right at the gas station and miss your opportunity to look your best.  And speaking of looking your best…

Remember, consistency is key.  As you stick to your routines, they will become second nature, and the benefits will multiply.

Creating a life of wealth number 4 is just as important as the rest so let’s get right to it.

Number 4.  Don’t forget those little details.

If you are following through with your self-care routines and are doing the work needed to take top care of yourself, don’t forget those little details.  Is your hair clean and healthy looking?  How about your face?  Are you eating right and taking care of your skin?  What about your teeth?  Are they clean and fresh looking and feeling?  How about your nails?  Are they clean and polished looking?  We aren’t talking about botox and surgery here but we are saying to make sure everything is well-kept.

These little details add up to how well you are caring for yourself.  They are your announcement to those you meet, “Hey this is me and this is how much I care about myself.”  Is this really who you want to be?  If not, then you will need to take some steps to start creating the person you want to become.

Number 5:  Being Fit and Trim

Maybe it’s better to say “Be healthy!” Make exercise non-negotiable.  Exercise is an absolute must. It reduces stress, and anxiety, and ultimately makes you look and feel better. But exercise isn’t just about looking good.  It’s about making muscles stronger because muscles are what hold up your skeleton.  And having strong muscles will help with your posture, which will help with your breathing, which helps with fatigue, which helps your immune be strong.

So, regardless of your schedule, make sure to commit to at least 20 minutes a day to get some exercise. It doesn’t even have to be “Official” Exercising at a gym.  It can be walking, dancing, sports, etc…just make sure you schedule a time to get those muscles moving.  When you start getting more fit and healthy you will find that you have so much more energy for yourself and others.

And our last but not least How to Create a Life of Wealth Bonus tip is:

Have Time to Relax and Re-energize!

This will help you deal with the day-to-day of life.  Take the time to replenish yourself with just straight-up fun and relaxation.

And when you add all these ideas together you get true self-care.

“Self-care is not an indulgence, but a discipline.”

By understanding your priorities and taking care of yourself, you will have the energy to live with meaning and purpose, creating a powerful life for yourself and others.
